7/21: WH Press Secy, Sean Spicer, resigns after Trump appoints adviser, financier Scaramucci, under suspicion for violating Russia sanctions (Business Insider), as WH Communications Director. 6/15: Trump team keeping US reporters in the dark during overseas trip and meetings with NATO, foreign leaders. Quick info here. 3/30: Bills in 19 states are threatening the freedom of expression and right to assemble/protest. Who reports this? Al Jazeera! Foreign governments are alarmed. 3/28: Bill allowing ISPs to sell your computer, tablet, phone browsing history to the highest bidder passed the Senate. You will supposedly be able to opt out. Or you could start using a browser like Tor, and an encrypted email, like protonmail... 3/18: American news journalists are praising German reporters for holding Donald Trump's feet to the fire over his unsubstantiated wiretapping claims. (UK Independent) 2/24: Reporters from New York Times, CNN, LA Times, Politico, BuzzFeed, Daily Mail, and BBC were banned from the White House Press Room today. Reporters from Time magazine, USA Today and the AP refused to enter in protest. Those allowed into the room included ABC, Reuters Fox News, and far right fake news outlets, Breitbart and the Washington Times. 2/22: The peculiar preference for alt-right and conservative "news" outlets continues in the White House Press Room. (See also, Fake News) 2/16: Congressmen Ted Lieu (D-CA) and Don Beyer (D-VA released a resource guide for federal employees who wish to break the Administration’s communications blackout on federal agencies. The guide explains how to safely and responsibly share information, and encourages employees to "Know Your Rights" and "Know Your Options." 2/14: Michael Flynn (who, ironically, led the "lock her up" chant at the GOP convention) resigned. His story was investigated by the Washington Post and New York Times, who did excellent investigative journalism. Now is a great time to subscribe to print and/or online national and local newspapers. Support genuine journalism in order to preserve our never-more-important-than-now Fourth Estate.
